I shipped nothing for months. Then I tried this.
My week based content calendar that works every time.

Day 43/100
Hey—It's Tim.
Last year I built a color-coded content calendar with exact dates for every post.
It lasted four days.
Then a founder fire drill hit, and I shipped nothing for months.
To keep me on track I change how I thought about content calendars.
The insight the changed everything
It seems pretty lackluster to say I went from thinking about publish date to thinking about publish weeks. But that’s literally it.
Instead of tying a specific date to when something should be published by, and then feeling guilty when I inevitably miss it.
I, instead, group my content by cluster and publish them all in one go. And give myself a week to do it.
ta-dah
I’m not going to pretend it’s this crazy revolutionary thing. But it helps me.
It removes that stress of “it has to be done today”, and I have a million other things that are more important. At least in my head they are.
Also, I find once I’m in blog-writing mode, I could keep going. Stay in the same lane. Keeping the context the same. It works for me. Feels like bowling with the rails up.
The order to publish things
Start at the bottom. Publish your most bottom of funnel of pieces first.
Then, you publish anything where the next relevant step for a reader, would be one of those articles.
And you slowly make your way up.
Each publish has it’s next step already made, and therefore easy to link to.
It really doesn’t need to be more complicated than that
Slowly, piece by piece, you build the funnel.
Some blogs have multiple next paths. That’s fine. If you find you’re missing a next path. Add it to the list of the next week’s content.
When you think you have it all covered. Find another BoFu piece you have, and climb upward, rung by rung, article by article.
