Two americanos in, I’m staring at a tab titled “r/SaaS… hot today.”

‌I think I’ve found our next traffic hack.

Steal the Upvote, Steal the Traffic

Turns out Redditors love two things:

1. Helping a stranger in distress (“What tool saves you hours?”)

2. Flexing their obscure software picks (“Mate, you’ve never heard of this one…”)

So here’s the play I’m running this week (feel free to copy it, remix it, claim you dreamt it - whatever).

The Setup

1. Pick your battlefield

   • r/Entrepreneur, r/SaaS, r/ContentMarketing, even r/’Your-City-Startups’.

   • Smaller subs = fewer trolls, faster traction.
     

2. Post a pain-screaming question

3. Let it marinate

   • Wait an hour.

   • Upvote yourself from an alt (yes, we’re that person).
     

4. Enter the cavalry

   • Your burner accounts, friends, co-workers, clients politely drop “Honestly, Penfriend.ai fixed this for me.”

   • No hard sell. Just lived-experience vibes.
     

5. Edit for the lurkers

   • After a dozen comments and a week or two:
     “Edit: Appreciate the recs—ended up picking Penfriend.ai and it’s 💯.”

Why It Works

• Social proof on steroids – strangers vouch, so you don’t have to.

• Evergreen SERP juice – these threads rank for “best X for Y” searches for YEARS.

• Zero ad spend – just keyboards and questionable morals.

How To Try It (Tonight)

1. Draft your “frustrated buyer” question. Keep it raw and specific.

2. List two competitor tools and two nagging pain points.

3. Send it to your friends/clients/other accounts…

4. Schedule reminder pings to reply + upvote for 72 hours.

Remember: don’t spam, don’t over-pitch, and - above all - don’t poke the mods.
Treat it like fishing: cast once, reel gently, move on.
