We're not shipping tomorrow. (And why that's a good thing for you)

I swear I'll never learn this lesson until it's too late

Day 254/100

Hey—It's Tim.

We were supposed to launch Wave 2 tomorrow.

We're not.

And I need to tell you why, because I've made this exact mistake four times now, and I'm tired of pretending I don't know better.

The Friday launch curse is real

Here's what happens every time I push a product update on Friday:

Friday 4pm: "It's live! Let's celebrate!"
Friday 6pm: First bug report comes in
Saturday 9am: I'm at a café trying to debug CSS while my girlfriend glares at me
Sunday night: The "small fix" turned into a rewrite
Monday morning: Support inbox has 47 messages and I haven't slept

I've done this four times.

You'd think I'd learn.

This time, I'm learning

We have Wave 2 ready. The VIBE score is ready. We have an updated SEO score after 2 months of testing the current one. The inline feedback is on-point…

But there's one front-end issue we can't figure out.

And it’s an important one. It’s how we show you exactly what you need to update on the blogs…

So I'm making the executive decision:

Wave 2 launches Monday, not Friday.

What this means for you

The good news (for you):

You get 3 extra days to lock in the 50% bonus credits on all paid plans.

Originally, this dropped to 30% tomorrow. Now, you have until Monday morning.

The math if you're on Annual Pro:

  • Sign up today: +50% credits for 12 months = 18 months of credits

  • Sign up Monday: +30% credits = 15.6 months of credits

  • You save 2.4 months of credits by signing up this weekend

I'm basically paying you to use Penfriend if you think about it.

The bad news (for me):

I'm working this weekend.

My girlfriend just asked: "So when you said 'no work this weekend,' you meant...?"

I said: "I meant I'd try."

She's giving me that look.

You know the one.

The lesson I keep relearning

Shipping fast is good.
Shipping broken on Friday is stupid.

I've spent more hours fixing "small Friday bugs" than I've spent building entire features.

So here's the new rule: No launches after Wednesday.

If we can't ship it by Wednesday, it waits until Monday.

This gives us:

  • Thursday to catch bugs

  • Friday to polish

  • Weekend to breathe

  • Monday to support the launch properly

I should've made this rule three years ago.

If you want to lock in the 50% bonus before Monday:

After Monday: Drops to +30% credits.

See you Monday morning with Wave 2.

(And probably Sunday night with a progress update because I can't help myself.)

P.S I’m doing something fun all day Monday

The launch isn't just "here's Wave 2, enjoy."

I'm doing live office hours all day Monday.

Drop into Zoom anytime between 9am-5pm ET. Ask questions. Watch me demo features. Roast the UI if you want. I'll be there.

First 30 people who join get double credits on their account for the month.

Want the Zoom link? Reply "OFFICE HOURS" and I'll send it Sunday night.

P.P.S. About that front-end issue we’re dealing with…

If you're a front-end dev and you've ever dealt with TipTap, and their decorators, and how to create temporary highlighting WITHOUT having to anchor every single sentence in a separate lookup file each time…

I’d like to talk to you. If you can help I'll set you up with a free Penfriend annual account.

I'm not joking.
