How I fixed our product demos with the most boring Chrome Extension

A love letter to my favourite Chrome Extension of all time.

I have taken many screenshots…. many
A lot of people don’t know about Gyazo. But, if you know me, you know I don’t shut up about this chrome extension.
I’ve been using it for years
It’s a crucial part of my workflow
I have a dedicated button on my mouse to use it
Ok, so it takes screenshots…. big woop.
Nah, you don’t get it. It’s annotated screenshots, it’s the search, its the html video embeds for product demos….
Oh, I’ve got you now.
How I use it for me
Screenshots, and then annotating them, and then dropping that link into slack.
I use it to screenshot games. I actually have a folder of where to aim to get a hole in one on every course in Golf With Your Friends.
Blurring our things in screenshots it so easy.

Here's how I'm actually using it for Penfriend:
Feature showcases: Instead of asking our designer to create mockups of our new dashboard features, I record a 5-second clip showing the actual feature in action. Embed directly into emails, Slack, or landing pages.
Bug reporting: My engineering team loves/hates me for sending precise video recordings of exactly where and when things break in the UI. No more "I can't reproduce that issue" excuses.
Social media content: Those quick UI interactions or product moments make perfect short-form content without requiring a video editor.
What makes it slap so hard for product pages
I can turn every video into an html embed. Pair that with Thrive themes html embed drop in on the page editor, and I have instantly loading product videos on any landing page.

Paste into your site/email/doc

Stop making this harder than it needs to be
I've spent too many hours watching product marketing teams create elaborate video plans when simple screen recordings would've worked better. Don't be those people.
Gyazo isn't paying me for this (though if anyone from their team is reading this, I accept payment in coffee and compliments). I'm just tired of seeing good marketers waste time on overcomplicated solutions.
